At first, you may think that we are barking mad to even suggest booking a trip at this time of year, given the traditional rhythms of the UK academic calendar. Yet, there's a compelling case to be made for this timing. Bear with us…
Our ethos is simple: We're here to ensure that every school trip is a seamless blend of education, adventure, and, very importantly, good weather. The idea of bringing along the brolly doesn't quite fit our vision of the perfect trip.
The financial and logistical commitment to a school trip is no small feat. Recognising this, we consider it our duty to guide you away from the rainy season pitfalls. Our aim is to guarantee that your group gets to soak up the culture, history, and sunshine, not so much the rain. We get enough of that in the UK! This approach naturally narrows our focus to certain destinations during specific seasons. For instance, the monsoon months steer us clear of Southern India and Nepal during the summer, but Easter is a great time to explore these regions in warm, dryer weather.
But that’s not all. Travelling in July is often much hotter than mild April. Take Morocco, for instance: visiting in the sweltering heat of July is a whole different ballgame compared to the mild and pleasant mid-twenties of April. And after enduring the damp and dreary British winter, a bit of spring sunshine is not just welcome; it's practically medicinal.
The Easter travel period also offers several underappreciated perks. The most obvious among them is the peace and quiet! While the summer months can see popular destinations swarming with tourists, Easter tends to be a bit quieter, with more people opting for domestic breaks. This means more space for you and your students to engage deeply with the surroundings. Furthermore, the lengthier Easter break grants a flexibility that the shorter half-terms simply can't match. This allows for a broader scope in planning, which can have a positive impact on costs.
Eggcellent Easter Expeditions
Nepal, with its towering peaks and dramatic valleys, becomes a jewel in the crown of exciting travel destinations during March and April. These months, nestled within the embrace of spring, are widely celebrated as one of the best times to visit this Himalayan paradise. As the snow begins to retreat, Nepal ushers in a season of warmth and vibrant life, making it an excellent choice for trekking enthusiasts and cultural explorers alike.

The days stretch on longer, offering plenty of sunlight for adventures. But one of nature’s most incredible spectacles during this season is the blooming of rhododendrons. For wildlife enthusiasts, the period from October to April is particularly rewarding. The drier months turn Nepal’s national parks, such as Chitwan, into wildlife viewing havens. During the Nepalese dry season, visitors have the opportunity to encounter an array of wildlife, including rhinos, monkeys, crocodiles, Asian elephants and even tigers.
Similarly to Nepal, India is a fantastic destination to travel to during the Easter holidays. A trip to India during the Easter holidays offers a unique and vibrant perspective on this diverse country, particularly in regions like Southern India and the Golden Triangle. Whilst April marks the onset of warmer days, it remains an exceptional period for exploring the country's wealth of landscapes and wildlife, making it a safe and rewarding time for an educational expedition.
Southern India, with its lush landscapes and balmy climates, becomes especially inviting around Easter. Kerala, nestled among the Western Ghats, provides a perfect backdrop for trekking adventures. The region’s verdant forests and spice-scented plantations offer a wonderful escape from the classroom, where students can immerse themselves in the natural world and learn about everything from biodiversity to microbusinesses.
April's warmth does more than just beckon travellers to the subcontinent's southern reaches; it sets the stage for wonderful wildlife experiences. As temperatures rise, animals frequently gather at watering holes, creating prime opportunities for sightings. This is the time to head on a safari in Bandhavgarh or Corbett National Park. Both parks are renowned for their tiger populations, and with the water scarcity during April, chances of spotting these majestic creatures, along with a variety of other wildlife, are significantly higher. Journeying to Morocco during the spring months, from mid-March to May, is arguably the optimal period for exploration. The springtime promises a climate that is both warm and inviting, offering a comfortable backdrop for a number of activities without the sweltering intensity and busy crowds found in the summer. Spring conditions are especially favourable for venturing into the Moroccan desert, where the milder temperatures make excursions far more enjoyable than at other times of the year. This gives students the opportunity to experience the vastness of the Sahara or Agafay in a way that is deeply memorable, and much safer.
Marrakesh, the heart of Morocco, pulses with life in spring. The city invites visitors to wander through its historic medinas and bustling markets without the summer's overpowering heat and intense crowds. The sights, sounds, and smells turn every corner into a discovery. Architectural gems like the Koutoubia Mosque stand as silent witnesses to the city's storied past, while the souks offer a treasure trove of crafts, from intricately designed lanterns to handwoven rugs.
The coastal charm of Essaouira is a highlight of any Moroccan spring itinerary. Riding a camel along the beach before exploring this UNESCO-listed port town adds an adventurous twist to the journey. Essaouira is celebrated for its handmade deep-sea fishing boats and delectable seafood. The experience of wandering through its walled city and lively souks, bargaining for local Berber curly-toed slippers, and witnessing a stunning sunset over the Atlantic encapsulates the essence of Morocco’s coastal beauty.
When planning a spring visit to Morocco, it's crucial to consider the timing of Ramadan. This significant Islamic festival can affect daily routines across the country, as Muslims fast from dawn until sunset. While this period brings a unique cultural dimension to the travel experience, with evenings marked by feasts and a festive atmosphere, it also means altered schedules for many businesses and services.
During March and April, Costa Rica is at its most vibrant, boasting dry, sunny days that make every outdoor activity a delight, from the adrenaline-pumping ziplines of Monteverde to the tranquil beauty of La Fortuna waterfall and the underwater marvels found while snorkelling in Cahuita.
This is also an exceptional time of year for witnessing Costa Rica's rich biodiversity. An Easter trip for those interested in marine conservation, particularly the efforts surrounding sea turtles, is a must!
