Seven Wonders: One World After years of preparation, the results of the "New 7 Wonders of the World" competition were unveiled in Lisbon in July 2007. Over 100 million votes were cast worldwide to select seven monuments and buildings from a list of 21 finalists † - † each recognised as having truly global significance. †The final seven were confirmed as:

• The Great Wall of China.
• Petra, Jordan.
• Chich√©n Itz√°, Mexico.
• The Statue of Christ Redeemer, Rio.
• The Colosseum, Italy.
• Machu Picchu, Peru.
• The Taj Mahal, India.

Ironically, the only one that escapes us is right on our doorstep - Stonehenge!
