Destination Inspiration....
Adrian Ferarro
BSc (Hons) FRGS
The original driving force behind the STC, Adrian has travelled and trekked throughout many parts of the world over the past 20 years. His first major expedition was a six month epic through Africa (London to Nairobi overland, crossing the sahara and the “Heart of Darkness” in Zaire). Other trips have included 4 months in South America (Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina) as well as various trips to Nepal, Finland, South Africa, Morocco, Turkey and elsewhere. He has trekked in the Andes, Alps, Himalayas, Turkey and New Zealand as well as exploring the wilder sides of the UK in both summer and winter. He has spent the last 13 years working in the adventure travel industry arranging trips and expeditions across the globe.
Adrian is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (RGS), is a committee member for the South West RGS region and volunteers as a Geography Ambassador under the Action Plan for Geography programme. He has lectured for the RGS on Zaire and the Belgian Congo. Adrian also sits on the national council for the Young Explorers’ Trust – a national charity promoting youth expeditioning.
With a degree in Exercise Science from Birmingham University and a Level III OCR Certificate in Off-site Safety Management, Adrian is particularly passionate about the educational benefits and “lessons in life” that travel and adventure can bring.
When not in the office he enjoys mountaineering, climbing, skiing and surfing, as well as introducing his two children to the delights of foreign travel and sleeping wild on Dartmoor.
Will Hatton
BSc (Hons)
Will Hatton BSc (Hons)
Will has travelled extensively throughout the world for the last five years before settling down to help other’s find their own travel inspiration. A keen hitch-hiker, Will has hitched all over Europe and Asia with nothing more than a tent and a battered map. After spending a year living in India, he trekked in Nepal before heading into the little explored land of Myanmar where he became fascinated by the warm welcome of the friendly people and the stunning landscapes.
Will is passionate about exploring new cultures and places. After completing his degree in Glacial Geography and Middle Eastern Politics he journeyed to the Middle East and spent time herding goats in the holy land and living with Bedouins in caves. Travel and adventure is a huge influence in Will’s life and he strongly believes that exploring the world offers the best education possible. When not adventuring he enjoys martial arts, trekking around England’s National Parks and a pint of Devon cider.
