If your son or daughter has come home requesting to go on one of our school adventures or expeditions, you'll naturally want to learn more about the company organising the trip.
We are an independent travel agency. We were established in 2006, but our pedigree was developed long before that. We specialise in school adventures, expeditions, family adventure holidays and tailor-made journeys.
So what's our role?
A few months ago, a teacher at your school will have approached us to get advice on arranging a tour or expedition. Some teachers come to us with an exact plan of what they want to do, others come only with a vague idea for a trip.
Through our knowledge of arranging adventures and expeditions we work with teachers to design an educational travel experience with one of our travel partners. We then support the teacher and school throughout the build up to the trip, ensuring all the necessary preparation, risk assessments, tour operator checks and documentation is complete.
We arrange true educational journeys – school trips and expeditions that go well beyond the ordinary. We believe education should be more than academic. We aim to get your son or daughter under the skin of their destination – exposing them to different cultures, physical challenges, fantastic scenery and unique experiences – all with a view to challenging their expectations and view of the world.
As a travel agent we play an integral role in developing and arranging our school trips, but we are not an operator and so we don’t actually run the trips ourselves.
We work closely with over 45 of the best tour and expedition operators in the UK. Each has been chosen for their expertise in a particular region, activity or specialist arena, enabling us to ‘place’ your schools’ business with the most suitable travel company.
We choose our travel partners very carefully. We work only with the most reputable adventure travel and expedition companies in the UK. Many have been the forefront of adventure travel and expeditions for well over 25 years. The most experienced is over 35 years ‘old’, the ‘youngest’ a mere baby, with ‘only’ 10 years experience.
We feel comfortable in saying you couldn’t be in better hands.
Supporting Your Child
Most of the school trips we arrange are adventurous. Children learn well (and lots) in challenging environments, but we know that as well as them being exciting, such trips can also sometimes be daunting.
Understanding that and supporting your son or daughter in the build up to their trip is hugely important.
It also pays to make the most of the opportunity. Encourage them to make the most of the time before departure – finding out about the cultures, history and challenges of their destination for example. Once abroad, they'll be more likely to get stuck in, and therefore get the most from the trip.
Our message to parents on funding school trips is simple: 'the less the better'.
The tours and expeditions we arrange are good value, but we realise they are often far from cheap. In our experience, students always get more from a trip when they have been 'required' to fund some of the cost themselves.
A bit of bargaining never goes a miss (and it might stand them in good stead for their trip too!). You could make a deal that you'll fund 60% of the cost, if they fund 40%. They might push for 80:20, but if they really, REALLY want to go, with hard work and the right attitude, they'll find a way to make it happen – even if the scales are tipped 80:20 in your favour.
We have seen students completely self-fund expeditions to the tune of well over £3,000.
So... don't be too soft on them!
