Having been closed to the outside world for some 70 years whilst under communist rule, Mongolia opened its doors to the intrepid traveller in 1991. The country offers a multitude of beautiful landscapes, welcoming people and unique cultures that will make a lasting impression on those that travel here.
South of the capital lies the mythical Gobi Desert and exploring this remote region on foot, camel or 4×4 is an almost hypnotic experience. For extended trekking possibilities the far west of the country boasts the impressive Altai Mountains, shared with neighbouring Russia. Here, local Kazakhs still practice the ancient tradition of hunting with golden eagles and you can trek amongst glaciers and 4,000m mountains.
Mongolia can also be included as part of an itinerary on the Trans-Mongolian Railway (a version of the Trans-Siberian), or we can tailor-make holidays to the remotest corners of the country. We also arrange adventure holidays, trekking holidays and small group tours. Please contact us for more information
