Destination Inspiration....

With a long history of running school expeditions, Abingdon School were looking to change their existing provider. Working closely with them we remodelled their overall approach to the expeditions into a slimmer, more cost-effective solution. Our first task was to create an 8 - 10 day expedition for February half term that would stretch the horizons of 14 & 15 year olds.

What STC Did

The Sinai Desert in Egypt is one of the most beautiful in the world, offering an ideal introduction to expeditions. We put together an 8 day trip involving a 5 day point to point trek. Accommodation was in traditional Bedouin tents, or simply a roll mat laid out on the ground. Also included was an ascent of Mt. Sinai and the last day was spent snorkelling and swimming in the Red Sea.

Testimonial

Taking 32 boys walking in the Sinai desert was initially a daunting prospect. However, it turned out to be a truly amazing experience for pupils and the staff. STC chose the perfect travel partner and I was amazed how smoothly everyday ran.  There was the right balance of trekking and relaxation, the scenery changed each day and being able to sleep under the stars was fantastic. The chef produced some amazing meals with the limited foods available and the boys always went for seconds. At the end of the trek it was great to relax in a hotel on beach and then snorkel in crystal clear waters.  STC took the stress out of finding the right company and then helping with paper work (reminding and checking) and risk assessments!  I am using STC again this year and will recommend to anyone organising expeditions.

Additional Notes

After the success of the Sinai expedition, Abingdon School have arranged further trips to Kilimanjaro and Turkey.
