Venezuela

Venezuela is a land of amazing diversity: steaming jungles, soaring mountains, tropical beaches, Indian communities and dazzling wildlife. As an expedition and adventure travel destination it is perfect and one of the cheaper options on the South American continent.

There are a multitude of trekking options including the bizarre "Tepuis", home to the "Lost World" of Authur Conan Doyle, as well as snow capped Andean peaks in the west of the country.

Elsewhere, central Venezuela is home to the famous Orinoco River, the upper reaches of which are the home of the Sharia Tribal Communities. The Llanos, a huge area of wildlife filled swamps in the wet season, but rich pastureland during the dry is home to more than 500 species of birds, countless caiman and capybaras, as well as more exotic species such as the jaguar, ocelot and honey bear.
