Madagascar

To visit Madagascar is to visit a 'lost continent'. A land geographically isolated and filled with unique wildlife, plants and an astoundingly diverse landscape including rainforests, spiny forests, deserts, mountains and canyons.

Madagascar is rightly famous for its wildlife. Where else can you hear the eerie wail of the Indri lemur across the misty rainforest? Chameleons, birds, frogs, butterflies, geckos, spiders, Malagasy boa constrictors and a myriad other creatures endemic to Madagascar are all feasible sightings on any well planned trip.

In addition to the fantastic wildlife, there is much for the active traveller and expedition groups too, with multi-day treks and river trips, hikes across baking rocks in the 'grand canyon', as well as snorkelling, diving and relax on magnificent Indian Ocean beaches while fisherman row by in pirogues.

The friendly Malagasy people are a unique mix of African and Asian ethnicity with 18 distinct tribal groups. There are numerous opportunities to meet remote communities who will introduce you to their sacred forests and the treasures they offer. Visit soon, though, as this wonderful diverse country is threatened by aggressive deforestation.
